Job Description

Quality Manager

The Quality Manager will ensure compliance of the manufacturing facility and have oversight of food safety and quality programs such as:  HACCP, GMP, GFSI, FSMA, SQF, ISO 22000, BRC.

Implement guidelines and food safety performance systems and standards to ensure all phases of quality are met from raw materials to finished products.  Provide strategic oversight of the department through leadership, training, and mentoring to your team.  The QA Manager will strive for continuous improvement and develop their team to meet and exceed food safety standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance to food safety and regulatory requirements in factory
  • Maintain robust food safety programs – HACCP and GFSI
  • Lead facilitator and contact for regulatory representatives at the facility
  • Leader of continuous improvements and forward-thinking corrective and preventative programs to stay ahead of food safety issues and concerns
  • Lead internal auditing program with data driven results
  • Lead quality management system reviews with cross functional leadership team
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPI’s) for Quality team
  • Ensure standard work through development of work documentation and training to standards
  • Ownership of customer/consumer complaint investigation
  • Leader for factory level Special Situation Management investigations and escalate to Quality Director level executing policy requirements
  • Provide technical support with respect to Quality functions to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Maintain an effective system for implementation of customer quality requirements
  • Provide training and mentoring to the Quality and Operations teams (HACCP, GMP, Allergen awareness, etc.)

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science
  • Minimum of 5 years in quality roles working in multiple food manufacturing environments
  • Minimum 3 years in quality supervisor or manager role
  • Understanding of the cost of quality, budgeting and forecasting department needs
  • Effective at being a Servant Leader, leading and managing change
  • Boots on the ground mentality while being effective in the plant and with corporate
  • Strong experience in HACCP and multiple GFSI Quality Systems and their development and implementation (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000)
  • Excellent communication skills and effective driving action plans
  • Utilize and rive robust root cause analysis process methods and tools to solve both systematic and complex technical problems and deliver continuous improvement
  • Perform internal and external investigations of quality deviations and customer complaints
  • Provide consistent, two-way communication between production and cross-functional management teams
  • Partner cross-functionally to train, implement, maintain quality programs and Food Safety systems for the facility
  • Manage and facilitate internal shelf-life testing and collaborate with R&D to conduct monthly evaluations and updates
  • Champion and lead key quality projects/initiatives to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance and record keeping for all mandated quality checks, testing, sampling and sanitation activities
  • Use continuous improvement methodologies and projects to improve and streamline quality processes
