Quality Technicians (x2)

Under the direct supervision and direction of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for monitoring and assuring the FSQA technician’s compliance with tests on in-process product to evaluate compliance with company and regulatory Food Safety standards.  The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician is expected to set a positive example by following all safety and GMP requirements at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports Food Safety and Quality Assurance department in daily tasks
  • Trains and develops associates as necessary including but not limited to development, food safety, GMP’s, etc.
  • Ensures raw, commodities, finished product and micro environmental samples are collected in a timely manner according to company policy and reports discrepancies and violations to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor immediately
  • Accurately and efficiently enters food safety and quality data into computer databases
  • Maintain records of micro environmental sampling, raw, commodities and finished goods testing and reports and communicates out of specification results and documents corrective actions
  • Evaluates raw and finished product for defects and non-conformance to quality standards; accurately completes and submits supporting documentation; reports discrepancies and violations to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor, manager or other leaders immediately and documents corrective actions
  • Submit samples electronically or manually to the 3rd party lab. Ensures warehouse management system (SAP) is constantly updated with correct sample tags, lab results and dispositions
  • Accurately and efficiently manages the disposition of products placed on hold as directed b the QA Supervisor or Manager
  • Assist with microbiological testing of new products, technologies, etc.
  • Ensure GMP’s and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are being followed
  • Acts as a backup for Food Safety Quality Assurance technicians
  • Regular communication and interaction with manufacturing line employees
  • Maintains open lines of communication and positive working relationships with manufacturing staff
  • Sets as positive example by following all safety and GMP requirements at all times
  • Actively participates in Tailgate meetings
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by management
  • Contributes to a successful food safety culture by following the established guidelines as outlined in the company Food Safety Policy
  • Follows all Company food safety protocols without fail
  • Always perform tasks in a manner that protects and promotes food safety
  • Cooperates with managers and other leaders to ensure all Company legal and ethical requirements are met

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • A minimum of 2 years of related Quality Control experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bilingual English / Spanish language skills required. Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in both languages
  • Ability to utilize a calculator and perform basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to work PM and AM shifts, weekend and holiday hours
