Job Description

R&D Food Technologist

Currently seeking a technically driven, customer-focused R&D Food Technologist to join an expanding Research & Development team.  This full-time, permanent position supports their mission to deliver tailored, functional ingredient solutions to a diverse customer base through direct collaboration and hands-on development.  The ideal candidate will be at the intersection of product development and customer innovation—contributing to custom prototype preparation, bench formulation, pilot trials and data management.  If you have a background in food science, a passion for the food industry, and a desire to grow within a high-impact role, this is a strong opportunity for you.  As a rapidly growing company, they offer real opportunities for career advancement for those who bring drive, ambition, and strong performance to the table.

Key Responsibilities

Customer-Focused Product Development

  • Partner closely with the R&D, Culinary, and Sales teams to support customer-driven formulation projects.
  • Translate customer needs into technical solutions through bench work, functional testing, and iterative prototype creation.
  • Prepare and ship prototype samples for customer evaluations, often under tight timelines.

Ingredient & Specification Management

  • Create and manage technical specifications and supporting documentation for proprietary ingredient systems and blends.
  • Ensure data accuracy for all customer-facing technical sheets, COAs, and labels by entering and maintaining records into existing and future-state specification systems.
  • Maintain organized notes of formulation records, analytical data, and manufacturing results.

Research and Culinary Support

  • Conduct product development commercialization activities involving a wide array of unique globally-sourced agricultural ingredients.
  • Execute physical and functional testing (moisture, bulk, density, particle size, solubility, dispersibility, shelf life, preliminary fill levels) of ingredients and finished products.
  • Assist in scale-up preparation, plant trials, and start-ups in collaboration with Operations.

Lab & Technical Center Operations

  • Maintain lab cleanliness, inventory, and organization per GMP and food safety guidelines.
  • Track, organize, and replenish lab materials, ingredients, and packaging.
  • Support calibration and preventative maintenance schedules for lab equipment and tooling.
