R&D Group Leader - Coatings
We are seeking an experienced formulator of industrial coatings to develop products for new customers!
We are seeking to hire a R&D Group Leader to develop new applications and identify new customers for our current product line and to develop new products for any market. The primary goal of this position is to increase sales of our products and grow our business.
Responsibilities:
- Be knowledgeable of the properties and advantages of our current line of products
- Understand and convey technical product information to potential customers
- Work closely with and support the sales team
- Identify new applications, new customers, and new markets of our current line of products
- Communicate with potential customers, answer queries, and resolve problems
- Build strong relationships with potential customers
- Design and carry out experiments in our laboratory to generate data supporting application of our products in new markets
- When requested, prepared and QC product samples and send them to potential customers in a timely manner
- Follow up with potential customers regarding their evaluations of our products
- Provide 24/7 support during product trials at potential customer’s site
- Provide product and service recommendations based on potential customer needs
- Be timely and responsive in managing queries and answering emails and phone calls from potential customers
- Make presentations to potential new customers
- Schedule and take lead on conference calls with potential new customers
- Advise management on company matters, particularly those related to potential new customers and new products
- Provide technical support to technical team, Technical Director – existing customers, quality control, customer service, and production as needs arise
- Utilize the internal customer management database to track all interactions and samples sent to potential customers

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- M.S. (required) and Ph.D. (preferred) in chemistry, chemical engineering, coatings, applied science, material science, or related field
- Minimum 5-years in industrial coatings
- Experience in a wide range of industrial applications that use aqueous polymeric products
- Successfully worked directly with customers to support existing products or develop new products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative problem solver thinks outside the box
- MS Work, Excel, PowerPoint
Hours and Travel:
- Permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week
- Hours 8 am – 5 pm
- Some travel required
