R&D Manager – Nutritional Supplements

Responsible for activities necessary to lead new product introductions from concept to release, new supplier development, project organization, project budget reviews, and sales and marketing collaboration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Define, develop, plan and manage highest priority R&D projects and product development initiatives
  • Ensure all R&D staff pursues the highest level of technical competency and professionalism in all development activities
  • Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise in the area of regulatory compliance
  • Monitor various quality improvement programs including; Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Safe Quality Food (SQF), quality and food safety programs, continuous improvement programs
  • Involved in the development of nutritional supplements and food products
  • Establish, develop and maintain supplier and co-manufacturer relationships for new product development
  • Studies methods to improve quality of products, such as flavor, color; texture, nutritional value, convenience, and composition

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Business and/or Sciences. Master’s Degree a plus
  • 5 plus years’ experience in a similar Project Management and R&D role, preferably similar to technical product development and consumer packed goods industry
  • Familiarity with multiple project management platforms and methodologies. Project Management Professional a plus
  • A similar combination of education and/or experience
  • Experience:
    • Management 5 years: (Required)
    • R&D: 5 years (Required)
    • Product Development 5 years (Preferred)
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills a must
  • Positive, can-do, proactive attitude and work ethic
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment-flexible, self-directed, creative and team player
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, both as an individual contributor and as a team member
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS office applications
  • Management and coaching of direct reports, at this time one Sr. Food Technologist
