R&D Sr. Chemist

The R&D Sr. Chemist will have the following responsibilities:

• Manage projects and assignments independently from inception to completion
• Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines via excellent time management skills and prioritization
• Prepare submissions based on weekly schedule
• Compile and analyze test result to make improvement in all aspect of formulation development from lab to production and able to make recommendation based on research
• Maintain accurate real time entries on lab notebooks ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Collect scientific data and communicate technical information to project managers
• Ensure product stability and able to troubleshoot if problems occur
• Issue ingredient listing and product specifications as required
• Create and update SOP as they relate to Research and Development
• Adjust batches and validate specifications as necessary
• Assist in training and mentoring lower chemist positions to promote active advancement
• Maintain housekeeping in conformance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) standards
• Flexible and willing to perform other duties as needed (fill lab batches into components, prepare evaluation sheets and labels)
• Oversee / supervise pilot and first three (if needed) production batches throughout the manufacturing process
• Calibrate R&D Lab Equipment as needed
• Attend cosmetic seminars and meetings
• Perform other duties and assignments as instructed by R&D Management
• Assist R&D Management with company audits or in preparation of audits

Technical Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and/or Biochemistry, or related science field
• At least 8 years’ experience as an R&D Chemist in the personal care industry
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Computer skills
