R&D Technical Manager

The R&D Technical Manager will manage technical requests and processes specific to R&D projects and assignments.  Act as a support resource to the manufacturing department.

*Manage technical issues within the manufacturing department including assessing root cause analysis and appropriate remediation.

*Provide technical support and leadership for pilot batches, process validations, cleaning validations in manufacturing.

*Provide scientific input as needed for Marketing, Label Compliance, Quality, and Purchasing.

*Responsible for maintaining Claim Substantiation files.

*Develop new tablet and hard gelatin capsule formulations of Vitamin/Mineral Supplements as needed to support business growth while maintaining compliance with company SOPs and industry regulations.

*Evaluate alternative and new raw materials to assess morphology, physical characteristics, stability and feasibility of use in manufacturing to include appropriate reports and assessments as needed.

*Scale up lab bench, feasibility and pilot scale formulations to production scale.

*Write and review Master Batch Records using Microsoft Office tools.

*Write product development proposals and reports including risk assessments, ASL and Rx projects.

*Revise existing formulations to achieve cost reductions and manufacturing efficiencies as needed.

*Propose corrective action plans to remedy actual or potential quality issues.

*Provide support to the Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and all other company departments as needed.

*Help address rework issues with Manufacturing by developing rework procedures that in compliance with cGMP's as needed.

*Interact with vendors, suppliers, and technical personnel in order to solve issues or discuss potential new business applications.

*Be the scientific liaison between company and suppliers, customers and third party companies.

*Willingness to continue to expand current industry knowledge base by attending seminars, trade shows, and conferences where possible.

*Be the technical R&D approver for company Oracle ASL requirements.

Requirements:

*Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree and/or Pharmaceutical degree in a science related field or equivalent experience.

*At least 5+ years' previous experience in solid dosage research and development or closely related activity.

*Thorough knowledge of tablet and hard gelatin capsule manufacturing and techniques and basic quality principles.

*Experience or theoretically understanding of soft gelation formulation and applications.

*Ability to identify the root cause(s) of problems, propose effective corrective action plans and ensure effectively execution and follow up.

*Perform literature searches and write reports for formal presentations.

*Good communication, organizational, and computer skills.

*Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
