Research Chef

The Chef is integral to the core application team.  In addition to working on projects in the foodservice pipeline, you will contribute to ongoing research and development activities.  You will support Sales and Marketing groups by leveraging your skills in recipe development and ideation.  The Chef reports to the Sensory and Application Development Manager.  Collaboration with marketing managers, scientists, and sales is essential for success.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Know the compositions and attributes of company’s and competitive products
  • Develop testing protocols to evaluate and quantify product performance
  • Recommend changes to manufacturing unit operations to improve product performance
  • Product application support for foodservice customers
  • Evaluate products for suitability in food service applications
  • Develop innovative and cost appropriate recipes and menu concepts for customers
  • Strengthen existing customer relationships and build new partnerships
  • Participate as needed in the new product development process
  • Travel to customers and ideation sessions expected (25-30%)

Requirements:

  • Culinary degree is required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in culinary area as a Research Chef or similar experience
  • Experience developing / presenting new menu ideas to QSR and Casual Dining Chains
  • Commercialization experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as part of as team on multiple projects
  • Work with complex interactions of foods in recipes and applications
  • Ability to identify aromas and basic tastes
  • Active member of the RCA
  • Comfortable in presentations, partnering with sales
  • Shares the vision of upper management on the formulation of the new department
  • Strong communication skills
  • Creative mindset
