Safety Engineer

The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer ensures compliance with all federal, state and local safety, environmental and transportation regulations and is responsible for all aspects of the site safety and environmental programs and for implementation of internal safety and environmental programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees safety and environmental compliance for the facility including day-to-day operations, incoming spent carbons, air permit, wastewater discharge and stormwater requirements
- Assists with EHS duties at other facilities as assigned by Manager
- Participates in daily plant meetings, inspects the plant daily, provides safety and environmental training to employees
- Prepares all annual and periodic environmental reports for the assigned facilities including but not limited to all SARA reporting, DMR, annual air permit certifications, deviation reports and others as required
- Prepares permit renewal application and modifications for air water and waste permits
- Develops and/or implements environmental programs for the facility
- Other EH&S projects to support the facility or other company locations as assigned by the Director of EH&S
- Implement company corporate safety and environmental requirements
- Performs daily site inspections, interacts with employees, contractors and management to assure day-to-day operational safety
- Supports an accident-free culture
- Performs Behavioral Based Safety Observations

Salary
$85,000 - $95,000

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university is required (Degree in environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry; equivalent work experience is accepted) – Associates degree will be considered as well.
