Sanitation Manager

The duties and responsibilities of the Sanitation Manager will include:

• Responsibility for monitoring and ensuring proper sanitation throughout the facility and assures that the Plant complies with all the Company policies and State, Federal and Local laws and regulations, guidelines, standards, etc. relating to sanitation and food safety
• Establishes programs, standard operating procedures to articulate and reinforce the responsibility of all employees and integrate food safety and sanitation standards into the manufacturing processes consistently throughout the factory
• Develops and implements short-term, mid-term and long-term goals as well as planning and implementation of continuous improvement strategies
• Promote and champion the proper sanitation of the Facility
• This position is the technical liaison between the plan, sanitation chemical company, and any third-party sanitation provider (where applicable) and for the Plant’s Wastewater Treatment Plant
• This position reports directly the Director, Operations and is a member of the Site Leadership Team

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Champion and lead the sanitation effort and efficiency of the Site
• Plan, organize, control and lead the Sanitation Department operation
• Develops and implements effective programs, processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Plan (cGMP) provisions, tests, sampling measures to promote the proper sanitation of the Site
• Interface with inspectors and other representatives of the regulatory agencies and other local, state and federal entities
• Manage departmental staff, materials, procedure and the implementation of effective operational safety guidelines
• Report any discrepancies, recommend corrective actions and preventive measures to management peers and other Company representatives
• Develop and maintain appropriate partnerships with outside vendors to ensure a high level of services, including but not limited to pest control and other facilities maintenance actions
• Serve as backup to Facilities Manager in the operation of the site’s Wastewaste Treatment Plant
• Partner with Quality Assurance Department to review and make adjustments to the Master Sanitation Program for the Site to eliminate any deficiencies
• Participates in the Site’s efforts to prepare for any conduct any internal or external audit by any agency, association, certification authority (e.g., AIB) or customer
• Review microbiological data and provides solutions to deviations from standards
• Conduct any needed testing (e.g., ATP, Allergen) and report any variances or deficiencies as necessary)
• Takes and oversees the taking of required samples and measurements, ensures that required chemical analysis are completed
• Participates, when required, in teams formed to respond to spills in the work area
• Maintains records, moves materials and follows safety rules in performance of duties
• Manage departmental budget, including preparation of annual budget

Technical Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Food Safety, Supply Chain Operations, Engineering, Business or a related field of study
• In-depth knowledge of Food Manufacturing Practices and Safety Measures
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in sanitation management or related field
• Prefer direct experience in the food manufacturing industry
• HACCP Certification of willingness to obtain certification at company expense
• Class 3M Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Operator’s license or willingness to obtain at company expense
• Ongoing Technical Contact House (TCHs) as required to maintain license
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Budget and vendor contract development and administration experience
• Relationship-building, leadership, and time management skills
• U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in U.S. is required
