Senior Chemist

Mid-sized chemical manufacturer is seeking a driven chemist with a background of at least 5 years in formulation of industrial coatings.  This company is growing and working on some niche projects!

Duties:

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of aerosol coating formulations.
• Apply expert knowledge of organic chemistry and material science to troubleshoot complex formulation issues, enhance product performance, and ensure product stability and safety.
• Build strong partnerships with both internal and external functions (such as R&D, Product Management, vendors, customers, etc.).
• Redevelop company’s Aerosol Product Platforms, ensuring efficient manufacturing to satisfy both our Industrial and Architectural customers.
• Guide, teach, and mentor less experienced technical personnel in the R&D Department.

Technical Qualifications:

• Possesses 10-15 years of Liquid Coatings formulation experience in many Chemistries: acrylic, alkyd, epoxy, phenolic, polyaspartics, urethanes, and others.
• Demonstrates high level of technical knowledge with a strong track record of product and process development, innovation, and commercialization in coating technologies.
• Shows ability to develop and implement project plans with proven technical leadership.
• Proven experience in the building and optimization of coatings product platforms as well as a background in color development / color matching is a plus.
• BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other equivalent scientific field required.
