Senior Chemist

Small specialty chemical company is looking for an experienced Chemist to join their team and lead all R&D and Quality duties.  This position will direct the day-to-day activities of lab technicians.  If you have expertise in formulation of polymeric materials of any kind and are looking for a lead role in a small company, this could be a great opportunity for you!  Great opportunities for growth, too!

DUTIES:

• Carry out R&D/Formulation of asphalt-based, hot-pour crack and joint sealants for the highway-construction and pavement-maintenance industries.
• Oversee scale-up of new formulas from the lab into full-scale manufacturing.
• Mentor technicians and chemists and direct day-to-day activities.
• Build relationships with various State DOT labs. Follow up with them on submitted samples and ensure products are approved for use by the DOT labs.
• Assist with the sales process when requested.
• Maintain knowledge of the industry, associated trade organizations and standards, and changing trends
• Assist in the implementation and enforcement of quality control and tracking programs.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS degree in Chemistry or related
• 5+ years of industry experience in some kind of polymeric materials formulation (coatings, adhesives, etc.).
