Senior Commercialization Scientist

The Sr. Commercialization Scientist is a new role based on growth that will be a key figure and point person both in the R&D facility as well as in co-manufacturing facilities to facilitate testing and troubleshooting on processing.  A candidate with benchtop and pilot plant experience to manufacturing commercialization at the plant level working cross-functionally with plant personnel is ideal.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Determine commercialization needs for new R&D initiatives and translate them into manufacturing processed based on Co-Man’s capabilities
  • Create manufacturing documents and review with cross-functional team members to assure that all information has been captured accurately
  • Successfully execute scale up of new products from benchtop to production level by partners with the company cross functional and Co-Man’s teams
  • Provide support to Sales team members with customer documentation and samples from initial commercialization runs. Be a pivotal technical support resource on new products in the commercialization process
  • Capture observations and findings from initial commercialization runs. Review findings with cross-functional teams and prepare a summary report as part of project transition from commercialization to QA as a fully commercialized operational product
  • Monitor status of active commercialization projects and assess critical milestones to successfully complete project in an allotted timeframe
  • Assess production concerns through benchtop and pilot scale testing
  • Evaluate approved product formula with the guidance of R&D to learn key product attributes and address any potential hurdles from commercialization process
  • Coordinate with R&D, QA, and Supply Chain to ensure accurate information is published to the customer and the manufacturing facility
  • Manage product approval process internally and with customers

Job Requirements

Requirements of this Position:

  • This is an in-office role
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field
  • Live by the Company’s Core Value Blocks: You must be Bold, a Leader, Open-minded, Creative, Knowledgeable, and Selfless
  • 5+ years of experience from product development to scale up in the manufacturing environment is required
  • Experience with dairy product formulation and scale up is a plus
  • Requires an organized thought process to all steps of the commercialization process. Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple projects at the same time.  Strong project management skills needed
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments
  • Ability to use technical data and resources during scale up on manufacturing environment to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges impacting finished product quality
  • Must be able to understand the needs of the project and utilize resources in all departments to bring project to completion
  • Has the ability to guide team members and influence decision making
  • Up to 60% domestic travel may be required
  • This role does not have direct reports
