Senior Director, Sales of Ingredients & Private Label

We have an exciting career opportunity within our Strategic Partner Solutions division.  We are seeking a Senior Director, Sales Ingredients & Private Label.   You will be responsible for providing management and leadership for our fast-growing Strategic Business Unit.  You will provide strategic direction, execution and policy development for Ingredient & Private Label sales with some of the largest industrial manufacturing companies and national retailers.  This position will report into the Executive Vice President of Sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in developing and implementing strategies with North America accounts, distributors and sales agents to achieve annual and strategic business objectives. Provides leadership for customers and distributors to secure revenue and profit targets
  • Ensures a steady flow of quality development / sales projects consistent with business growth objectives in the management of the Strategic Partner Solutions (SPS) division
  • Establish tactical growth strategies and annual plans for top strategic industrial ingredient manufacturers (Baby Food, Cereal, Snacks/Bars, Cracker, etc.)
  • Establish tactical growth strategies and annual plans for top strategic retailers (Retail Grocers, Club & Specialty Channel)
  • Deliver annual net sales and EBITA goals for strategic industrial & retailer products by ensuring effective plan execution
  • Work collectively with our sister company’s team to help expand product presence when possible and augment customer experience through placement of industrial & private label products
  • Strategically identify what partnerships with industrial manufacturers and retailers we will pursue, how we will engage and place both ingredients and private label products that we are capable of producing and/or sourcing at our financial targets
  • Develop, communicate and execute sound financial proposition and analysis aligned with the overall strategic plan
  • Execute customer sales strategies / priorities, consistent with company operating strategy to generate brand growth and awareness with the customer and consumer
  • Ability to penetrate top potential customers and build effective relationships to develop strategic plans that effectively represent the customer and company interests. Plans should incorporate growth, customer prioritization and product focus
  • Establish direct measurable performance metrics for all aspects of assigned areas. Reviews and evaluates the sales performance on a continuing basis, executing action plans to correct issues and continually improve performance to achieve revenue objectives
  • Ensure best in class project management to achieve integrated company objectives, optimization / utilization of internal and external resources
  • Interface with cross-functional business teams consisting of trade marketing, consumer insights, R&D, finance and sister organization
  • Ensures customer sales agreements are up-to-date and implements corrective actions if needed
  • Travel approximately 50%

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a sales environment; Ingredient Sales (B2B) & Retail Grocery required; Private Label strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in selling to VP+ in industrial manufacturers and national accounts, with the development of marketing programs to support growth initiatives
  • Experienced in running a P&L
  • Professional, team player, profit driven, good presentation and negotiating skills, creative and energetic
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills and ability to use data analytics to influence decisions
  • Demonstrated management and supervisory skills
  • Value-add food ingredient experience is required
  • Must have managed distributors
  • Sales Agency / Broker management experience
  • 50% travel required
