Senior Packaging Engineering Scientist
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Packaging Engineering Scientist will include:
- Support new product development and product improvement from concept through commercialization, with a primary focus on packaging specifications, packaging equipment, and related processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and commercialize innovative packaging concepts, taking into account quality, shelf-life, sustainability, regulatory compliance, cost, product protection, and overall consumer experience.
- Assist with packaging material testing and application analysis by working closely with headquarters and suppliers.
- Stay current on sustainability trends, packaging machinery, equipment advancements, and regulatory updates, partnering with the regulatory team as needed.
- Contribute to product excellence for co-packed items by supporting process improvements aimed at enhancing quality and reducing costs.
- Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) for all assigned products.
- Support research and evaluation of new packaging materials for cost efficiency, sustainability, food safety, quality, performance, and compatibility, and assist in identifying prospective co-packers for NPD projects.
- Monitor emerging market trends and competitor products, providing recommendations to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain market competitiveness.
- Conduct scale-up activities from R&D to full production, ensuring smooth transitions and protecting packaging integrity.
- Provide progress updates and project status reports for R&D activities in alignment with the NPD process.
- Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to understand available technologies and propose ideas, solutions, and alternatives that support product excellence.
- Utilize scientific and technical expertise to identify root causes of product defects and recommend preventative measures.
- Assist with special projects as required.

Job Requirements
Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
- 6-10 years of experience in packaging development, packaging applications, or related work within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, technologies, testing methods, and packaging machinery.
- Understanding of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements related to food and packaging development.
- Experience collaborating directly with packaging suppliers during development projects.
- Experience in food product development or new product development is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Bilingual proficiency in Korean preferred.
