Senior Scientist

The Senior Scientist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in project assignments and completion
  • Complex problem solving, product / technology innovation
  • Full knowledge of the company product line
  • Product Stewardship
  • Maintain raw material knowledge with Industry Standards
  • Proficiency with Manufacturing processes
  • Train and mentor R&D Technicians, Jr. Chemists, and Chemists as assigned
  • Maintain work area in a professional manner
  • Perform such routine or non-routine tasks as may be assigned
  • Maintain good records
  • Review opportunities for process and product improvements with Group Leader
  • Participate in safety inspections and maintain a safe work area

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of industry experience formulating architectural coatings or something closely related (water borne industrial, acrylic adhesives, etc.). Has to be a strong formulator
  • History of commercialization success
  • A broad in-depth knowledge of paint raw materials, processing equipment, and paint market needs
  • A strong understanding of formulation science, structure / property relationships, and multi-component interactions
  • Six Sigma training / certification a plus
  • Moderate interaction with other departments, including Manufacturing, Quality Control, Regulatory, and/or Marketing to address specific needs is required
