Job Description

Sensory Scientist

The responsibilities of the Sensory Scientist will include:

  • Conduct sensory evaluations of food products to assess key attributes for New Product Development (NPD) and product excellence initiatives.
  • Organize, train, and manage sensory panels to ensure consistent, accurate, and dependable data collection.
  • Analyze and interpret sensory data to provide actionable insights that support product development and drive product quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams – primarily Marketing – to align sensory objectives with overall product strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance sensory evaluation methods for improved efficiency and precision.
  • Stay current with sensory science methodologies and industry trends to continuously refine evaluation practices.
  • Communicate sensory results to food scientists and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Balance sensory testing responsibilities with project management and administrative tasks.
  • Track R&D budgets and expenses to ensure compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Contribute to new product development efforts within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assess and refine R&D administrative workflow to improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor industry developments and competitor activities.

Job Requirements

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience in sensory evaluation within CPG food industry.
  • Experience with food product development and NPD is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong capability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, reliability, and credibility.
  • Solid administrative skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Bilingual in Korean preferred.
