Job Description

Base salary $125,000-$135,000

Opportunity:
Join an innovative R&D organization where you'll lead the scale-up of new organic chemical processes from laboratory development through pilot plant and commercial manufacturing. This is a highly technical, hands-on role with significant influence on process optimization, manufacturing strategy, and the commercialization of new technologies.

Requirements:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Approximately 10+ years of industrial experience in process development and chemical scale-up
  • Proven success scaling organic chemical processes from lab to pilot and commercial production
  • Strong knowledge of organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, separations, filtration, catalyst selection, and process optimization
  • Experience working with contract research organizations (CROs) or external development partners
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE), statistical analysis, and data-driven process optimization
  • Strong understanding of process safety, reaction chemistry, and manufacturing operations
  • Excellent project management, communication, and technical problem-solving skills
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and scale chemical processes from laboratory through commercial manufacturing
  • Lead pilot plant and scale-up activities while improving yield, quality, safety, and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with internal R&D teams and external CROs to transfer and optimize manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate reaction pathways, catalysts, raw materials, and processing methods to improve performance and reduce costs
  • Apply Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical tools to optimize process performance
  • Conduct process characterization, reaction analysis, and process safety evaluations
  • Develop process documentation, operating procedures, and technology transfer packages
  • Support intellectual property development through technical innovation and invention disclosures
  • Present technical recommendations and project updates to cross-functional teams and leadership
