Sr. Analytical Polymer Chemist
If you LOVE analytical work and a fast-paced exciting environment, this role could be for you!! Located west of Downtown Chicago, you’d work in a team using your expertise in Chromatography including GPC, Thermal Analysis, and some Spectroscopy techniques to deliver solutions to the Innovation, R&D and Material Sciences teams. Cutting edge GREEN Technology!
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply advanced chromatographic and detection techniques including GC-MS, LC-MS, GPC, and others to separate, identify, and quantify complex chemical mixtures and polymeric materials. Develop and refine methodologies to improve accuracy and analytical efficiency.
- Utilize complementary techniques such as FTIR, UV-Vis, NMR, Raman, TGA, DSC, DMA, and DHR to investigate structural, thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties of polymers and other materials.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative testing of chemicals, raw materials, and products using internal resources and external partners. Utilize statistical methods to make data driven decisions.
- Provide clear analysis, draw meaningful conclusions, provide recommendations, and author detailed reports with key findings and actionable insights.
- Design, validate, document, and optimize current and new characterization methods for applications in raw material analysis, technology and product development, and quality assurance.
- Provide technical support across the organization to determine the root causes of techniques or conduct experiments.
- Provide training and guidance on equipment usage, data analysis, and method development.
- Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation.

Salary
$130,000 - $140,000 + Bonus

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- A PhD (preferred) or MS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Chromatography and separations, molecule identification and quantification. Experience with structural, thermal, and/or mechanical material characterization is preferred.
- Demonstrated computational skills including familiarity with Python, R, JMP, or other languages and statistical tools is strongly preferred.
