Sr. Food Scientist
The Senior Food Scientist will plan and design experiments, coordinate research and development projects, evaluates results, and provide recommendations to management. A high degree of product and food processing knowledge is required and the ability to work with a broad variety of functional groups with the company.
- As a food scientist, you will formulate from benchtop to commercialization: both new sweet bakery products as well as innovating existing, with new flavors, sweeteners, and ingredient profiles for a variety of hand-held that can be positioned to obtain new customers in both QSR and CPG retail space
- Additional the company has recently gone into the savory baked goods space for a variety of met protein pot pies, and other savory pastry products
- The manager is seeking someone that will lead product development efforts with passion for new projects and products that align with goals in growth and revenue
- Customer facing, showing your passion for product, you enjoy being the extension of R&D to sales, marketing, and customers. Enthusiasm to showcase new ideation
- You are a great fit if you are knowledgeable about flour-based products, pastry fillings, ingredient functionality, food processing equipment, new product development and core product improvement processes. Savor baked products are also good
- You will research, plan, and design experiments, coordinate research and development projects, evaluates results, and provides recommendations to management. Project assignments are complex, involving a high degree of product and food processing knowledge

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Food Science or similar, MS encouraged to apply
- 3-10 years of experience in research and development in the foodservice industry, bakery product category preferred
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint. Ability to quickly learn and master new technologies
- Excellent follow-up skills, demonstrated experience in problem solving and achieving Win/Win solutions
- Ability to travel required: 20-25%
- Uses market research to drive all new product development efforts
- Uses sensory data in new product development efforts, when appropriate
- Provides technical services to Operations to help ensure operational quality. Facilitates training of in-process staff on functionality of ingredients, process parameters, etc.
- Creates testing plans with detailed timelines on all assigned projects and shares regular updates with Project Management
- Thoroughly documents all testing activities to contribute to the knowledge base of the R&D Team and minimize duplication of effort
- Effective interpersonal relationships and the ability to successfully collaborate on a cross-functional team
- A passion that fuels engagement within and beyond departmental lines. Believes and acts with conviction that people and customers are wildly important
