Sr. Product Development Chemist

The Sr. Product Development Chemist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage and work on multiple projects of the more technically challenging variety as well as the day to day type simultaneously
  • Work cross functionally with Product Marketing and Technology to develop new products and make product improvements
  • Work with Quality and Manufacturing to address quality concerns or processing issues
  • Works closely with Procurement defining project goals
  • Prepares timely reports and updates on project status
  • Establishes clear timelines through project plans
  • Coordinates / participates in scale-up as required
  • Perform product performance and application testing
  • Manages and trains junior personnel
  • Manages technical relationships with vendors
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines
  • Cross trained / knowledgeable in resin and colorant
  • Strong knowledge of application techniques including spray
  • Working knowledge of project management tools
  • Understanding of formulation software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Possess good data collection and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Flexible and able to manage resources according to project priorities
  • Strong people and cross functional team management skills
  • Strong trouble shooter / problem solver
  • Fosters team involvement within and outside the laboratory
  • Leads and grows self and team through continuous learning
  • Works independently with guidance
  • Good understanding of the completion
  • Proven quality control background

Requirements:

  • BS in Chemistry or related discipline
  • 5-10 years’ experience
  • Formulation expertise in architectural coatings especially interior
  • Paint manufacturing and scale up expertise
  • Managerial experience a plus
  • Must be a team player with good oral and written communication skills
  • Should have excellent collaboration skills
