Sr. R&D Manager

We are seeking a dynamic Sr. R&D Manager that can come in with prior leadership and lab optimization experience to manage the department.  The Manager will demonstrate a track record of managing people while leading key department projects as a pivotal member of the company.  Seeking both an innovator in new product development and continuous improvement where the ideal candidate will prioritize ways in creating products and aligning with business strategies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, providing guidance, and mentorship to prioritize projects and department objectives to meet company goals
  • Being an active manage and contributing to product development and process optimization through hands-on formulation work
  • Apply your technical know-how and knowledge of Food Science and food manufacturing processes to lead R&D projects
  • Develop and implement project plans for new product development, process improvement, and quality food safety criteria to research initiatives
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment with cross-functional teams to streamline R&D efforts with company strategies for growth and revenue
  • Embrace and foster a positive culture for fellow employees and your team emphasizing creativity, collaboration, respect, and professionalism in the workplace
  • Effectively manage budgets for R&D projects, resource allocation, and timeline to deliver projects through the finish line
  • Ensure that R&D projects and activities align with regulatory requirements, food safety, quality, and labeling regulations
  • Resolve technical challenges and provide solutions to improve product quality

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role overseeing a team in the food manufacturing industry. Open to various Product Development backgrounds including flavor house
  • Excellent communication, time management, ability to multi-task, pivot when necessary and deliver positive results
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Food Science, food manufacturing processes, and QA principles
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to work with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to solve technical problems by trouble shooting and evaluating process
  • Provide consistent, two-way communication between R&D, production, and cross-functional management teams
  • Champion and lead key projects to drive continuous improvement
  • Use continuous improvement methodologies and projects to improve and streamline R&D processes
