Sr. Scientist, Fermentation

Seeking a highly motivated scientist with a strong background in enzyme production through fermentation processes.  In this role the candidate will be responsible for ideation, experimental design, experimental execution, reporting data to group leaders.  Job responsibilities will include:

  • Providing value to company business units through design and execution of enzyme fermentation processes and projects
  • Developing technical expertise and extending the group’s knowledge base in the areas of industrial enzyme production through fermentation
  • Managing multiple fermentation projects, and communicating outcomes, recommendations, and next steps to Biotechnology Research leaders

The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to work under minimal direction, be able to develop experimental strategies and interact with other scientists to support projects in strain development, metabolic engineering and fermentation

  • PhD degree or equivalent experience in enzymology, fermentation science, molecular microbiology, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience operating bench scale fermentation systems with a deep understanding of growth and metabolism of microbial strains used in industrial fermentation processes
  • Experience in the use of statistical analysis and experimental design
  • Subject matter expertise in enzyme production through fermentation
  • Preferred candidate will have industrial biotechnology experience, demonstrating delivery of value to the business through execution of projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams to coordinate the transfer of bench scale knowledge through scale-up to provide value for the business

  • Occasional travel may be required
