Sr. Wood Coatings Chemist

Growing Coatings company!  If you’ve been developing 2K PU coatings, or specifically wood coatings, this could be a great opportunity to level up your career!  This is an ESOP company, so you’d be a “player-owned”!

Duties:

• Senior Chemist level individual who is an independent contributor for wood coatings with 10+ years of experience.
• The chemistries focus on waterborne and solventborne with some UV-curable opportunities.
• This position will primarily involve developing new products, learning and maintaining our existing product lines and software, mentoring other staff members, and collaborating with other departments.
• This position reports directly to the Technical Director.

Salary

$90,000 - $120,000 plus bonus

Experience:

• BS in Chemistry or relevant field with 10 years’ experience formulating all types of wood coatings. A strong formulations chemist with experience taking products through manufacturing, assisting in plant support.
• Have an in-depth understanding of the differences in products and applications.
• Must have a complete understanding of application equipment.
• Must have a complete understanding of coasting systems.
• Should have ability to formulate colors (color test to be administered)
• Have a familiarity with solvents & additives and their correlations in coatings.
• Have knowledge with testing parameters, KCMA, AWI, ASTM etc…
• Be able to communicate between departments and remain objective.
