Supply Chain Materials Specialist

The responsibilities of the Supply Chain Materials Specialist will include:

  • Manage the Supplier Approval Program which includes vendor approvals by requesting documents from vendors for ingredients, packaging, non-food items, laboratories, co-mans, and contract service providers for all company locations
  • Maintain document control of all required supplier documentationonTraceGains:
    • Upload all necessary documentation to TG (ex: COIs received via mail)
    • Review and Approve vendor documents
    • Maintain current supplier register
  • Manage new and alternate ingredient approvals in addition to communicating any changes with appropriate departments
  • Obsolete products and raw ingredients in X3 as necessary
  • Inquire on the disposal or use of “stranded” ingredients (not in any active formulas and we have floor stock), depending on the ingredient and the volume, reach out to Quality and R&D to determine if we are able to use it off. If it’s a unique ingredient, reach out to Quality to determine its fate.  (Quality, R&D, Production Planning, and potentially upper management depending on the value of what we want to dispose of)
  • Lead bi-weekly Ingredient meetings
  • Complete quarterly Food Fraud reviews by adding new items, removing obsolete items, and reviewing any changes to ingredient status
  • Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the Senior Quality Manager or Quality Compliance Manager / SQF Practitioner
  • Complete Annual Vendor Performance review
  • Complete product and risk analyses

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
