Tech Service / Application Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining close relationships with company’s customers by setting up routine calls/visits and participating (quarterly, industry events, etc.) with technical contacts for key polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid foam board and polyurethane (PUR) spray foam customers
- As part of technical service, travels to customer manufacturing locations and supports the company’s new product qualification and ongoing continuous improvement efforts
- Leads applications projects that ensure customers are satisfied with polyester polyols by leading applications chemist and technicians
- Provides R&D feedback on new product developments by coordinating experiments with Applications chemists and technicians
- Assists in lab experiments that help with any root cause corrective analysis (RCCA) for customer related quality concerns
- Assists in conducting laboratory experiments, including small scale mixed foam and oversees operation of High-Pressure Foam/Spray Foam machines
- Provides routine project updates and develops associated reports on relevant experimental findings
- Maintains detailed records of all experimental data and maintains a library of experimental findings
- Conforms to the strict confidentiality policies of the company and possesses an acute awareness of internal and external intellectual properties
- Develops relationships with co-suppliers and evaluate innovative additive products for optimized formulation recommendations to provide PIR and PUR foam customers
- Follows company safety guidelines and policies
- Ability to manage other team members
- Ensures team members follow safety guidelines
- Participate in monthly safety meetings
- Responsible for maintaining the Polyester Applications group’s laboratories in excellent condition

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related is required
- Master’s Degree in a Chemistry related field is preferred
- Some technical experience is required; 3-5 years of technical experience preferred
- Must have the desire to work in a hands-on high tempo environment
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel required. Experience in the Salesforce is desirable
- Must be comfortable communicating with customers, relaying feedback through appropriate channels
- Wear personal protective or safety equipment (PPE) such as a respirator as needed
- Must be willing to travel 25-30%, with some overnights
