Tech Service Engineer

As a Technical Services Engineer, you will get to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, leveraging your entrepreneurial spirit, analytical and critical thinking skills, material evaluation abilities, and customer relations prowess to create great tech services outcomes.  This is an exciting opportunity to grow and develop within a well-established organization by leveraging your technical capabilities to make sustainable impacts for our customers.

Duties:

  • Assist in the sales process by evaluating our brands with applications and materials, recommend products and conduct customer visits to observe and develop application techniques, audits and presentations
  • Answer phone and electronic inquiries from the website or CMI programs to provide product selections or trouble shoot application issues
  • Provide field sales with technical data, test results, graphs, and reports
  • Work with field sales & marketing and other company groups to generate and analyze lab data to identify product gaps, new product screening for company growth initiatives including General Industrial OEM and other segments, as needed
  • Test competitive products against company portfolio products to determine technical gaps, Value Propositions for specific customer projects or problems and historical data
  • Participate in the commercialization of new product launches coordinating technical data with other essential departments
  • Be proactive in working with the sales team and their contacts to learn and visit with the Engineering, Materials, or Quality departments of key OEM customers and material manufacturers
  • Work independently or in multi-functional teams to develop new business opportunities, advise on new products or the modification of existing ones
  • Ability to travel to help support lab work presented at customers, trade shows, bringing on new customers and audits, industry presentations and emergency customer support
  • Maintain an electronic database to record Technical Service data and aid in protecting the company from undue liability
  • Participate in training / direction of new product training modules, training personnel and distributor reps
  • Promote, support, and adhere to all safety, environmental and quality related policies and procedures

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Material Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
  • 5-8 years of industrial experience preferred
  • Experienced working with adhesives
  • Unbiased analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Material evaluation experience, including both destructive and non-destructive testing, as well as analyzing results, failure modes, and behavioral cause/effect
  • Presentation skills in small and large groups
  • Strong computer and Microsoft Office Skills. ERP experience preferred
  • Travel up to 10-20% and hold a valid passport
  • Ability to lift up 50 pounds for equipment part and customer substrate handling and ability to work in tight places on occasion
