Technical Chemist
Small family-owned company looking for a degreed Technical Service Chemist with a few years of experience in coatings and interacting with customers. This role will travel 10-15% of the time. An excellent opportunity to interact with customers and work in coatings! Company offers excellent insurance plan and 401k with match!
Duties:
- Adhere to all company safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct laboratory testing to support MarineLINE sales and applications including:
- Immersion testing for customer specific requests, including cycling immersion testing.
- Immersion testing to understand how best to utilize ML.
- Application and cure studies to determine how field conditions impact ML 784.
- Work with sales and marketing to customer specific training presentations.
- Attend ML spray application to understand how ML is used by our customers and how we can support them technically.
- Respond to inquiries from Customer Care and all other ML technical service inquiries.
- Support root cause investigation of any customer complaints related to ML.
- Assist in development of application guidelines and cleaning guidelines for ML.
- Perform comparison of ML to competitive products and stay up to date on developments in marine internal tank linings.
- Determine what new cargoes are becoming traded on a regular basis and perform testing to add to CRG with appropriate notes.
- Update CRG as needed.

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- BA or BS in science related field, preferably chemistry related major.
- 4-7 years’ experience in R&D position
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities; ability to function independently with little supervision.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interface with different business units to satisfy customer requests.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
