Technical Group Leader

The successful candidate that joins the Packaging Coatings business will be expected to accomplish the following goals in the first 12 months:

  • Review and develop a complete understanding co company Packaging Coatings for Beverage products and their use within the first six months
  • Maintain and optimize the team project portfolio including interfacing with COMPASS stage gate process and Oracle Project Life-Cycle Analytics (OPLA)
  • Lead the team in driving the execution of current portfolio
  • Work with company’s Coatings Innovation Center (CIC) to deepen understanding of fundamental Beverage Packaging Coatings science and relate this to customer experience
  • Understand and interface with the Global market segment leaders and customers
  • Host customer visits
  • Present team progress to company leadership
  • Coordinate innovation activities between company research labs

Requirements:

  • BS to PhD in Chemistry or related (advanced degree preferred) with 10+ years of industry experience in polymeric material R&D (coatings preferred)
  • The candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in technical leadership and people management – leading at least a group of 5, with examples of collaborative technical achievements and general business acumen practices
  • Knowledge in managing technical projects in a global market environment is required
  • Strong understanding of IP strategy and execution
  • Demonstrated personal scientific excellence achievement
  • Familiar with setting Technical KPI’s to measure and drive performance and improvement
  • Strong problem-solving skills that resolve market and customer needs are essential
  • Looking for a good teacher and mentor in this role. Someone that sets goals for their employees and helps them achieve them. Not a micro-manager
  • Strong leadership skills. While this group works independently and is self-driven, they want someone that can manage projects and look at the “big picture”
  • Looking for someone forward-thinking and open-minded

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
