Job Description

Technical Support Chemist

This position is responsible for providing technical advice and support to the business to support customer requirements and enable risk and liability management by using broad or deep knowledge of company products and applications.

  • Accountable for management and delivery of assigned projects and support activity
  • Coordination of requests, generation and maintenance of relevant technical literature e.g., technical data sheets, specifications, emission reports, etc.
  • Work with internal customers and external agencies to maintain product certification
  • Responsible for provision of a “help desk” and technical data to support internal customers
  • Contribute to the investigation of customer claims and complaints
  • Visits customer facilities to provide advice and to make formal presentations and training to customers
  • Employee is expected to perform these company success factors: helps the customer, achieves expected results on time, understands the need to learn, open to change and new ideas, and fulfills the responsibilities in expected style
  • Performs all duties under limited guidance from manager
  • Make determinations regarding product recommendations to customers
  • Proactively works to attain and maintain product qualifications and certifications

Salary

$85,000 - $110,000

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field science (preferred)
  • 7-10 years of experience in coatings science and technology
  • Understanding of coatings application and testing using ASTM standards, ISO standards, and other standards as necessary
  • Understanding of Marine & Protective Coatings technologies and products and their applications by customers
  • Familiar with safe operation and maintenance of laboratory and application equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • No issues working around hazardous materials or smelling paint fumes
  • Computer literate
