Job Description

Urethanes Chemist

Established manufacturer serving the coatings and adhesives industry is seeking a Chemist with experience in Urethanes.  Company has a high level of tenure and people here can grow within the organization!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments in the lab including analyzing and interpreting data and drawing conclusions. Communicate results in an effective manner to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Be able to work independently or under the instruction of R&D Leadership as a team member in developing new products
  • Provide technical support and training to customers in the use of Urethane Elastomers
  • Work with QC and Production teams to support product commercialization and customer projects
  • Exhibit safe working behaviors and maintain safe working conditions in the lab

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or related science (e.g., Polymer science, Materials Science, Coatings, or Chemical engineering). M.S. degree is a plus
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience (technical service, R&D, product development) in industry, 5 years preferred
  • Experience in polymers is required, familiarity with polyurethane is a plus
  • Experience in adhesives, sealants, coatings, urethane dispersions highly preferred
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze results and write reports summarizing data and findings with well thought out conclusions
  • Root Cause Analysis with strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external teams
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively provide customer technical support
  • Be willing to travel up to 10% (i.e., visit customers, attend conferences / seminars)
