Job Description

VP of Operations

Successful chemical company is seeking a VP of Operations to manage their team including some tenured individuals.  The successful candidate will manage a team across various departments, including production, procurement, inventory management, product development, and shipping/receiving.  This is a hands-on leadership role with significant responsibility and an opportunity to make a substantial impact on our company’s success.

  • Manage and lead a team of managers across facility operations to ensure efficient and effective operation of all departments
  • Oversee production processes to meet production goals, quality standards, and customer demand
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage inventory levels to support production needs while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence
  • Drive product development initiatives, leveraging expertise in chemistry and chemical engineering to innovate and improve product quality
  • Supervise shipping and receiving operations to ensure accurate and timely delivery of products
  • Assume P&L responsibility for facility operations, working to optimize profitability while maintaining quality standards
  • Report directly to the President and collaborate closely with other members of the execute team
  • Drive company initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
  • Develop and mentor a team of managers, providing guidance and support to help them meet their goals and develop professionally

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Extensive experience in paint development and production, with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving results and meeting targets
  • Experience managing P&L responsibilities and driving financial performance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization
  • Hands-on mentality with a willingness to engage in day-to-day operations when needed
