Job Description

Waterborne Chemist

The duties and responsibilities of the Waterborne Chemist will include:

  • Formulation of existing and new projects for the Polyaspartic business line. Support new waterborne formulation projects.  Work on developing their polyvinyl acetate flake that is used in floor coating packages
  • Formulation, product development, product improvement, and production efficiency responsibilities
  • Test and evaluate products
  • Update and improve existing products, materials and test methods
  • Provide technical assistance and support to Production, Sales, and Marketing in support of product scale-up, quality control, application testing, and other cross-functional activities
  • Digitally maintain detailed technical records of lab work
  • Provide training and supervision of technicians
  • Assists the Quality department with the investigation of customer complaints and the subsequent generation of corrective actions

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemistry or related field
  • 3-5 years of developing formulations from inception through scale up and commercialization
  • Strong understanding of waterborne formulations specific to coatings and sealants
  • Technical service experience (phone, trade show, company visits) – travel less than 10%
  • Material Approval Processes
  • Paint Test & Application Methods
