Western Region Sales Manager

The Western Region Sales Manager is responsible for managing a team of 5-7 account managers whose responsibility is successful flavor sales interactions within designated territories.

The Western Region Sales Manager will manage and support the growth and expansion new business while ensuring key relationships of existing clients remains strong and engaged.

The Region Sales Manager will manage the West Coast team.  You will be traveling by air most frequently (up to or greater than 50%) territories including but not limited to; California, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Idaho, Utah.  Responsibilities to include:

  • Help develop and implement sales strategies and manage the performance of the sales team
  • Planning sales budgeting for team through collaboration of identifying new strategic business accounts
  • Key communicator of strategies that align with company vision and expanding market visibility
  • Promoting upper management interaction with meetings, presentations and value propositions to key national accounts
  • Coordinate company resources and cross-functional collaboration with (technical, marketing, regulatory, etc.) to advance customer projects
  • Meet volume, sales and profitability targets in the region for the team for flavor and specialty ingredients
  • Grow the business by identifying new business opportunities in the region and helping the team transforming these opportunities into sales
  • Understand and professionally recommend how to leverage company capabilities to meet needs
  • Manage assigned sales team and the budget. Timely maintenance and submission to all required sales and expense records and reports including but not limited to:  expense reports, open orders report, forecasts, travel calendar, etc.
  • Attend sales training, trade shows, industry functions and meetings as required
  • Prepare sales account manager and client visitation schedules to ensure all key personnel are being meet with on a regular basis

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an area of discipline preferred in marketing, biology, chemistry or food science
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and focused on growth and business development
  • Ten+ years of flavor / ingredient sales experience calling on major food and beverage companies
  • 5+ years in managing a team preferred
  • You search for how to grow the business rather than waiting for business to come to you
  • You take ownership of the management of your team rather than asking how to manage your team
  • Must be able to establish priorities and determine validity of sales team assignments and project work
